Capabilities

Can my Vessyl detect the brand of what I drink?

Yes. In most cases, you will see the specific brands and flavors of what you are drinking when you open the app. In certain cases, like 100% apple juice, when there are no significant differences between brands, the app will not get brand-specific.

Can my Vessyl detect yogurt drinks, smoothies, milk shakes, etc.?

Your Vessyl can detect very thick liquid like yogurt and smoothies.

Does my Vessyl have the capability to detect toxic metals or contaminants?

Your Vessyl has sophisticated sensors that can analyze the content at the molecular level. However, the focus of Mark One is to help people improve their nutrition, so at the moment, the sensors are not intended to detect trace contaminants. We do know that detecting contaminants is a serious concern for many, so we do have a long list of projects to tackle soon.

Does my Vessyl account for melting ice cubes as it tracks nutritional metrics?

Yes, your Vessyl will detect and include the water from the melting ice.

Does my Vessyl work for alcohol?

Of course.

How much liquid can my Vessyl hold?

13 oz / 385 ml.

Technology & Interaction

How does my Vessyl really work?

While we don't get into the specifics of how the technology works, we can tell you that there are sensors built in throughout the entire Vessyl. These are in the same realm of technology as quality control in the food industry.

Does the display on my Vessyl stay on all the time?

The display only comes on when you want it to. When you do the gesture, the beverage category, lens, and Pryme meter all show up.

What’s the gesture?

The one you were going to do anyway! Lift your Vessyl, and tilt it to look at the area with the facets. You can also have the display activate every time you pour a beverage in it, but that’s totally up to you (in app settings).

What about software/firmware updates?

We will be sending out updates via the mobile app, so you will always have access to the most relevant database and product features.

Features

Can my Vessyl handle boiling water/tea/coffee?

Sure. Your Vessyl can handle anything you typically drink.

Can I put my Vessyl in the fridge or freezer?

You can definitely put your Vessyl in your fridge, but we don’t recommend placing it in the freezer, as the battery may discharge.

Can I put my Vessyl in the microwave?

We highly recommend that you avoid putting your Vessyl in the microwave.

Is my Vessyl spill-proof?

Yes, very much so. It’s important that you can move around with your Vessyl without having to worry about your drink spilling. We developed the sealed lid (included) for this purpose. The only question is which color lid you will choose.

Is my Vessyl scratchproof?

Like most materials, your Vessyl can be scratched if you really try to scratch it. We designed it to be scratch resistant, but at the end of the day, if you put a knife to it, it will scratch.

Is my Vessyl water-resistant?

Yes. Your Vessyl is water resistant, which means it’s safe under normal use and washing.

Are there any wires involved?

The only wire included in your Vessyl package is the one connecting the charging saucer to the power outlet. As you can tell, we are not big on wires or buttons here at Mark One.

What happens if I drink from a straw or spoon?

Great question. Because of the pace of drinking, your Vessyl will know that you are drinking without direct contact. Those ounces of liquid will also be tracked.

How does Vessyl help me manage my weight?

Your Vessyl helps you understand how your “liquid calories” add up over the course of the day and week. [Warning: you might be surprised]. Instant real-time feedback will help you make the best decisions about what to drink. And because good hydration is also helpful for weight loss, using the Vessyl to stay well hydrated may even lead to better food decisions too.

How does my Vessyl help me stay hydrated?

Your Vessyl will estimate your unique hydration needs and adjust them based on your activities and whereabouts. It helps you learn when in the day you need to pay more attention to hydration and lets you easily check how you’re doing meeting your hydration needs.

How does my Vessyl help me stay sharp (caffeine)?

Staying hydrated will help you improve your focus and concentration throughout the day. If you drink coffee, tea or other caffeinated beverages your Vessyl will also keep track of how much caffeine you’ve consumed. You’ll quickly learn how much caffeine you actually take in, how much is too much, and how you’re doing right now.

How does my Vessyl help me build muscle?

Unfortunately, your Vessyl can’t lift weights for you, but it can help you maximize those efforts by tracking the amount and timing your liquid protein and calorie intake, which can affect muscle gain.

How does my Vessyl help me sleep better?

It turns out both hydration and caffeine intake can have powerful impacts on sleep. Your Vessyl will help you improve the timing of your fluid and caffeine intake.

How does my Vessyl help me regulate sugar?

Sugar regulation will improve with better hydration, limiting the amount of added sugars you consume, improving weight and better sleep, all of which can be improved by using your Vessyl.

Cleaning

How do I clean my Vessyl? Is it dishwasher safe?

We recommend that you do NOT place your Vessyl in the dishwasher. Your Vessyl’s non-stick glass-like material frees you from having to wash your Vessyl frequently – in many cases, a quick rinse is all that’s needed. On the occasions where you would like to wash, it’s quite easy. A little soap and water with a non-abrasive sponge or cloth should do the trick.

Does my Vessyl count liquid when I wash it?

Nope. Through the level of liquid and pace of consumption, your Vessyl knows the difference between drinking and washing.

Charging

How do I charge my Vessyl? How long does a charge last?

Charging is as simple as placing your Vessyl on its saucer (included). Plug your saucer into an outlet, and your Vessyl will charge. It takes roughly 60 minutes for a full charge and will last 5-7 days based on usage.

Will the charger for my Vessyl work in countries outside of the United States?

Your Vessyl's charger is compatible with a standard USB Micro-B cable, so this will provide many options, such as charging from your computer. Alternatively, you could buy a local USB adapter to use with your charger.

Can I charge while there is a drink in my Vessyl?

Yes.

Connectivity & Operating Systems

Can I link multiple Vessyls to one phone?

Yes. You can have a Vessyl at home and work, and they will both sync to the same phone.

Can I link my Vessyl to multiple phones?

Yes, as long as you are signed in to your account on both phones.

Does my Vessyl drain my phone’s battery?

With your Vessyl connected, you should barely notice any impact on your typical phone battery life.

On which mobile operating systems/smartphones/devices does the Vessyl app work?

The app works on almost all newer models of iOS and Android Devices. We will release a list of phones closer to ship date, to accommodate phones released between now and then.

Do I need a smartphone for my Vessyl to work?

Not at all. Your Vessyl will still help you make healthier choices in real time without having to connect to a phone. You will have access to the the default settings that comes with your Vessyl.

Is there a plan to make my Vessyl compatible with the Windows phone?

For the launch, we are focusing on iOS and Android. As we get closer to shipping, we will look into developing for the Windows phone. Stay tuned.

Materials

Is the non-stick coating inside my Vessyl toxic once it starts to wear down?

There is actually no “coating” in your Vessyl. We are using a specialized glass on the interior to make your Vessyl non-stick and easy to clean.

Is my Vessyl insulated?

Our engineering team works diligently to ensure the best consumer experience is achieved, and one of our top goals is to make the cup thermally efficient for both hot and cold beverages.

Is there ANY change in taste due to the technology or inner surface?

None at all. If your homemade smoothie tastes bad, you should ask Dr. Mark for some recipe recommendations.

Can I choose what color I want for my Vessyl?

Of course. You can choose your base color and your lid accent color. The experience with your Vessyl will be a personal one, so it’s essential that you are able to express your personality through the product.

International

Will my Vessyl work internationally?

Your Vessyl will launch with a database of popular global drinks. Through updates, we will continually expand on the database after we launch. In the situations where your beverage is not in the database, you will be able to submit it for addition.

What languages does my Vessyl support?

Your Vessyl will ship with English, but the Vessyl App will come in all major languages.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes, there is an additional shipping fee for international orders. We are not responsible for any additional taxes and/or duties accumulated during the shipping process.

What does “Reserve” mean?

Reserving a Vessyl will give you an opportunity to purchase your Vessyl from www.myvessyl.com at the $149 discounted price, once we officially launch the product. You can reserve and redeem up to 4 Vessyls. When your Vessyl(s) is officially available for purchase, we will send you a unique code/link to claim your reservation.

How can I change my order (color, shipping or billing address, etc)?

You can sign into your account and change your information anytime before your Vessyl is shipped.

When will I receive my Vessyl?

The updated shipping time frame is the beginning of Q4 2015. We made this change because of the unsatisfactory test results we received on the interior material. We will be taking a few extra months to get this right and ship a product that we are proud of and you will love.

Can I cancel my order?

Sure. All you have to do is log into your account and click "Cancel Order". You should see a refund on your credit card in 4-10 business days.

Can I pay for my Vessyl with PayPal or Bitcoin?

That’s a great question. Right now we are accepting all major credit cards, but we’ll consider alternative payments in the near future.

What and when is the "2nd Shipment"?

Our second shipment is set to begin one month after we start fulfilling your orders. We’ll have more information on our finalized date soon, and we’ll keeping working to get Vessyl to you as soon as possible.

When will my credit card be charged?

Your card will be charged upon purchase, but you can cancel at any point before your Vessyl ships. You can also get your Vessyl for free if you get 10 folks to purchase using your referral link. Each person who purchases gets you $10 off.

Does my Vessyl have a warranty?

We are focused on making sure your Vessyl is reliable and will be with you for a long time. We’ll be doing extensive drop and other reliability tests to ensure it stands up to wear and tear. Once we complete these test, we’ll share the warranty with you. Stay tuned to Facebook, Twitter, and/or our blog for updates on this.

Will I get an email when my Vessyl is shipped? Tracking number?

Absolutely! We’ll let you know when your order is on the way, and you will also get a tracking number to monitor the status of your shipment.

Will Vessyl be sold in stores?

Sure. We will move forward with our retail plan once we have opened sales to the public. We have set up partnerships with global brands to make Vessyl more accessible as we move forward. More to come on this as we get closer to launch.

How does the referral program work?

When you order your Vessyl, we will automatically give you a unique referral URL to share with your friends (or foes, we don’t discriminate). For every person who purchases a Vessyl using your referral URL within 30 days, you will receive a $10 discount from your purchase.

That means if you get 10 folks to purchase, you’ll get your Vessyl for free.

Each time someone purchases a Vessyl using your link, we will send you an email confirming your $10 discount.

    More specifics:

  • Referral credits are only applied when another person uses your link to purchase their first Vessyl.
  • This means you can’t use your own link (yes, I am talking to you. You know who you are).
  • Your referral code is valid for 30 days after your initial order.
  • If a person you refer cancels their order at any point before shipping, you will not receive credit for that referral.
  • Tax and Shipping are not covered by the referral credits.
